Lumen Field

My trip to Seattle was pleasant because I had the chance to experience family, food and football. In no particular order (wink). A trip to Seattle in August I’ve been told can be really hot or really rainy. Fortunately for me, it was hot.

What can I say about August in Seattle? If I had to describe it in one word, it would be anticipation. Walking the suburbs it was not uncommon to see football fans wearing jerseys, t-shirts, and hats. I was no different, sporting my 49er’s shirt (bang bang). Some said it was very brave to do in Seattle Seahawk territory. However I was greeted by one Seahawks fan who shouted “bang bang” in passing. In all honesty, I was speechless. What was I supposed to do with that? No confrontation or trash talk. It was a SF chant uttered by a Seattle Seahawks fan. Till this day I am still puzzled, and don’t comprehend my encounter. Unless it was a reverse psychology method…..

Back to anticipation of football. I wanted to make sure I photographed Lumen Field. My first view yielded a very nice landscape of the port side that is often shown in drone shots for a Seattle Seahawks home game. It gives great context especially if you’ve ever been to Seattle. Finally my second view of Lumen Field came from a higher view. 900 feet in the sky to be exact. This side lended two unique views. The first, is the most uncommon vantage point. From this side you see more of the urban setting that surrounds Lumen Field. The second, has to do more with the time of year rather than the angle. For NFL fans, August means pre-season games and the preparation for the coming season. I got to see Lumen Field naked. I wasn’t but Lumen Field was. You can see the crew transforming Lumen Field into the football ready stadium we commonly know it as. I mention this because many week prior to this, the World Cup took place and most football stadiums were converted to European football fields, as American’s say soccer.
